Autunno in cantina.

Last sunday I went with friends to a nice place close to home.
It is a place where they have a vineyard and produce their own wine..that is a "cantina" in italian.
There was a special event: a concert by a "quintetto" from Cagliari (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 violoncello and 1 contrabbasso) that was really emotional and free food and wine!
We did enjoy ourselves!!!

Sardinia is a touristic place.

Many people come to visit..

sometimes they leave a message in the sand....
Have you ever done it? What did you write?

their show Do NOT MISS IT!!

It is a very fascinating mask with its own fascinating history,

Green on the sand with flowers

Few posts ago I promised flowers on these plants,
they grow on the sand on the beach.
They do not have any smell for me but
insects love them early in the morning.

jonathan livingston aga gaetano.

The seagull in the pictures is a friend.
We find him every summer at the beach,
he comes to say hello and flies away,
or he waits for some bread
then flies away.
we named him Gaetano
from the main character of
children's book we loved very much.

expo.

I went to Olbia few days ago to see an exposition
of Marillina Fortuna, a woman from northern italy that re-uses
plastic , wood and other elements
that she finds on the beaches during winter
to create works of art.
I took the kids with me,
they were fascinated by the many fish.

lizard.

This is a very common animal here..

It is everywhere if you live in the country, like I do,

they live free and relax by the sun....

they only have one enemy in your house:

your cat!

I took a couple of pictures by the beach.

The other 2 photos are by a friend of mine,

when she arrives to her summer house in sardinia,

she always finds a family of lizards waiting for her.

She only needs to leave some water on the floor
and they come to drink!

what a view!!

Yesterday I had a day off
and I decided to go to the beach.
I arrived early,
went for short walk.
had the sun in front of me,
reflecting on the water,
wow..
this is what I saw ,
..
lucky people!
I wish I woke up on that boat!!
pretending to have the sun and the sea just for me...
....well, you never know!!

It happens!

Not a lot to say on the subject!
It happens,
it's normal,
you could be rich, you could be poor...
you could be beautiful, you could be ugly...

A visit.

Every summer we have turtles coming to visit us...
I simply think there is a path that runs in our garden.
I remember the same turtles arriving every year when I was a child ,
and I used to stand on the shell of the big ones and they would walk slowly with me on top....
In the photos is one of the first arrived in these days, it is a young one.
In Sardinia these animals are protected now.
Many people come and just decide to take them home...
How can this be? it just a matter of brain... If you are stupid you simply like the animals and think that it would be nice to take them home with you... so as I said they decided to protect them and if you are caught with a turtle you 'll have (and deserve!) a heavy fine!

Foreste Aperte. (4 of 4)

Landscapes.

View of Perda 'e Liana.

On our way back from the event we found this "nuraghe" and we stop to see it closer.
NURAGHE is built of stones, you find many in sardinia, it is the tipical house of ancient sardinian people.
This is the one called Ardasai, in the Seui archeological park. From it you can see circles of fallen stones in the fields in front . It is ruins of an ancient village and graves called " Tombe dei Giganti" ( last 2 photos)

View of the lake Flumendosa.

Foreste Aperte. (2 of 4)

Animals.

During our visit we had some nice encounters...

Wild boars coming near to eat any food people would give them..

A gipeto (this is a stuffed one) .
There are few in Europe and they are trying to reintroduce the species in Sardinia too.

By the main road when we were driving...

Horses,

a young calf drinking fresh water by a fountain,

Goats, my favourite.
They were so nice: I stopped the car and asked them to turn to the camera and smile!

Foreste Aperte (1 of 4)

Last sunday , together with some friends, I went to a beautiful event called Foreste Aperte, which means Open Forests. It was the first time for me, we visited The Foresta di Montarbu, near Seui, in the middle of Sardinia at about 2 hours drive from where I live.
First of all I was very surprised how well it was organized, the place is beautiful , lots of paths to walk, a river, lots of animals, lots of people, and good food too...we were even given a plate with the name of the event to bring home! The kids had entertainment, special walks, some tree climbing with experts, orientering games,a treasure hunt, and environment education lessons with free plants as gifts at the end.
It has been a different day ..we usually lay lazy on the beach!
So do not miss the next posts with more photos....

Rocks on the sea.

One of the most evocative view when you arrive in Sardinia are the rocks.
Everywhere you go in our small (?!) island you will find breathless monuments created by the wind and the rain.
Here some pictures I have taken in Capo Testa, Santa Teresa di Gallura.
Enjoy!

..and the funny face..

I have just found this browsing on the web and thought, why not?

Here's how it works....

white flowers with surprise!

Beautiful flowers...
But if you try to pick them up you realize they have not the typical scent of flowers...
in fact it is wild garlic ,very common in Sardinia and in the west mediterranean area.

You can recognize the bulb..try to smell that too!!

It blooms between January and May.
