Chestnuts.

Sardinian chestnuts.

These come from Aritzo, a small village in the mountain

famous for its chestnuts.

Useful pumpkins..

Of course we had to celebrate an halloween night in Sardinia too..

especially when you have kids!

So when I prepared the pumpkin

I decided to keep some of the seeds and to dry them..

We will plant them in Fofo's garden next year

for the next halloween night!

Occhio di Santa Lucia.

This is something I used to find on the sand of the beach every day when I was a child, nowdays it rarely happens.
It belongs to a shell called ASTREA RUGOSA , it actually is "the door" of the shell.
It is used a lot in jewelry.
Big or small,it is a lucky charm, and is beautiful.
It is called Occhio di Santa Lucia, the Eye of Saint Lucia, this is probably related to the legendof the saint.

Sorry..it has been a while since my last post..
My summer has been very busy ...and I also was pretty sad since I lost 2 special persons...a dear friend Anna Rosa and a blog friend Barry.....

I was not in the mood of writing ..

I am back full time..I hope..

This is the paradise

we found at the

end of the path...

The water was calling us......

...there in front of us a long white flower of the asfodelo,
small wild flowers and many types of green wild grass,
but the trees....
..many junipers of course, and wild olives..
.. gorse again..
and finally a glimpse of light blue..
oh yes! a beach!!
The kids run happily throwing their shoes in the air...
we can only follow their example...

saturday walk (1 of 3)

Saturday was a beautiful day, hot and sunny, i think there were more than 20°C..

We decided to go for a walk with the kids..

we parked the car in the countryside and found a path among the bushes that could hardly be seen from the main road...

so, follow the path with us...

It is full of plants and flowers,

The smell is sweet and strong,

we find yellow gorse and white flowers of cisto marino (I could not find a translation in english, forgive me, but I will post more about this plant soon..),white heather, myrtle..

..wild lavender, tree's roots..

It seems that the water from the last days' rains has followed this path too!

wild asparagus

Yesterday we spent some time

at a friends' house.

In the afternoon we went

for a short walk in their courtyard

(they live in the countryside)

and we picked wild asparagus that grow

happily here and there.

We got just a couple of handsfull,

enough for a good omelette!

winter sea..

The water of the sardinia sea has beautiful colours and is "clean"...

only in clean and clear waters grows the posidonia oceanica.

During the winter, helped by the winds ans the streams, the leaves

arrive on the shore...

when you go to the beaches for a walk sometimes most of the sand

is covered by different layers of dried leaves...

carnival.

Well..it's carnival time here too!

ok, our small town is nothing compared to Rio,

but we try our best.

On sunday we took the kids to see the parade.

This year , to be honest it wasn't as good as last year,

but the kids enjoyed..

so , as long as they have fun.....!!!
